A private watch session still carries responsibility.

These terms govern your use of WiFi Stream. They establish the limits of the local-network service and the rules for video content, connected devices, advertising, and network safety.

1. Agreement

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and the WiFi Stream publisher concerning the WiFi Stream Android app, package com.vcw.wifistream. By installing, accessing, hosting, or joining with the app, you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Acceptable Use & Shared Content Policy.

If you do not agree, do not use WiFi Stream. Mandatory consumer rights in your country continue to apply and are not excluded by these Terms.

2. What WiFi Stream does

WiFi Stream lets one Android device act as a Host, select local video files, and stream them directly over a local Wi-Fi network or hotspot to one or more Joiners. In Watch together, the Host plays one video and controls the shared timeline. In Share files, the Host selects one or more files without playing them, and each Joiner chooses and controls a video independently. The app uses Android local service discovery, a local HTTP media server, and WebSocket messaging.

WiFi Stream does not supply a publisher film catalog, cloud storage, remote media hosting, public discovery directory, app account, or internet relay for the core stream. A Share files catalog is temporary, created solely from the Host’s explicit selections, and available only while that Host session remains reachable. Advertising and consent services may separately connect to Google.

3. Eligibility and supervision

You must be legally capable of agreeing to these Terms. If you are below the age at which you can form a binding agreement where you live, a parent or legal guardian must review these Terms, supervise your use, and accept responsibility where permitted by law.

4. Limited app license

Subject to these Terms and applicable store rules, the publisher grants you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use WiFi Stream on compatible Android devices for lawful private use.

You may not:

  • sell, sublicense, rent, or commercially redistribute the app except as law expressly permits;
  • bypass access controls, interfere with ads or consent mechanisms, or misuse session tokens;
  • probe, disrupt, overload, or exploit another user’s device, stream, or network;
  • reverse engineer the app except to the limited extent a non-waivable law permits; or
  • use the app to violate rights, laws, sanctions, export controls, or Google Play rules.

5. Your content and conduct

You keep ownership of videos you select. The publisher does not obtain ownership of your media. You direct the app to make every selected video and its catalog metadata available to devices in your session, and you are responsible for that transmission.

You represent that you have all permissions and rights needed to:

  • access, play, list, and transmit every selected video and its audio;
  • show every selected item to every intended Joiner in the location and circumstances involved; and
  • use any file names, likenesses, performances, personal data, or protected works contained in the selected items.
No piracy or unlawful sharing. Buying, renting, subscribing to, or possessing media does not always grant a right to retransmit it. Do not bypass DRM, territorial controls, copy protection, or access restrictions.

6. Host and Joiner responsibilities

Hosts

  • Invite only people you intend to receive the stream and use a trusted private network.
  • Verify every selected video and visible file name is lawful and suitable for all intended viewers before hosting.
  • Choose Watch together only when you intend to control the shared timeline; choose Share files only when you intend each Joiner to choose and control playback independently.
  • Keep the Host online and the selected document provider available for as long as Joiners need access.
  • End the session when finished and protect physical access to the Host device.
  • Understand that the foreground notification identifies the active Host transfer and may display selected-file information on the Host device.

Joiners

  • Connect only to a Host you recognize and have permission to join.
  • In Share files mode, select and control only items the Host intended to make available; your play, pause, and seek actions are local to your device.
  • Do not capture, retransmit, record, or redistribute the stream without all required rights and consent.
  • Leave immediately if content is unexpected, unlawful, unsafe, or unwanted.

Host departure closes the local server in both modes. A Joiner may be able to continue only from bytes already buffered by the player, but the app does not download a permanent offline copy and uninterrupted completion is not promised after the Host exits.

7. Network, security, and data charges

You are responsible for the Wi-Fi/hotspot, router configuration, device compatibility, bandwidth, battery use, and any carrier or network charges involved. Network owners may restrict multicast discovery, peer-to-peer traffic, or fixed ports.

No encrypted local transport. The current core stream uses cleartext HTTP and WebSocket traffic. The session token limits ordinary unauthenticated video requests but does not encrypt media, Share files catalog metadata, or synchronization messages. Do not use an untrusted or public network, and do not stream highly sensitive material.

You must not assume that same-Wi-Fi means private. Other users, network administrators, monitoring systems, compromised devices, or incorrectly configured routers may be able to inspect or interfere with traffic.

8. Advertising and third-party services

WiFi Stream is ad-supported and may show Google banner and app-open ads. Ads are supplied by third parties and do not constitute an endorsement by the publisher. Your interaction with an advertiser or external destination is governed by that party’s terms and privacy practices.

The app also depends on Android, Google Play, Media3, device manufacturers, and local network services. Their availability and behavior are outside the publisher’s control. See the advertising section of the Privacy Policy.

9. Updates, compatibility, and availability

The publisher may update, add, suspend, or remove features; change supported Android versions; or stop distributing the app. Updates may be required for continued use or policy/security compliance. The service may fail because of codecs, file corruption, Android power limits, router isolation, network congestion, device locks, or peer departure.

No particular uptime, viewer count, latency, frame accuracy, codec support, or continued ad availability is guaranteed.

10. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, WiFi Stream is provided “as is” and “as available.” The publisher disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, uninterrupted operation, and security. The publisher does not warrant that a video is lawful, safe, compatible, private, or suitable merely because the app can play it.

Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or remedy that applicable consumer law does not allow the publisher to exclude.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the publisher will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive loss; loss of media, data, privacy, opportunity, goodwill, or revenue; network charges; device or router failure; or conduct of Hosts, Joiners, advertisers, or network operators arising from use of the app.

Any limitation applies only to the extent lawful in your jurisdiction and does not limit liability that cannot legally be limited, including rights that may apply for fraud, intentional misconduct, death, personal injury, or statutory consumer guarantees.

12. Suspension and termination

You may stop using and uninstall the app at any time. The publisher may terminate this license or restrict future distribution/support where you materially breach these Terms, threaten safety, infringe rights, or use the app unlawfully, subject to applicable law.

Because WiFi Stream has no app accounts or publisher session backend, the publisher cannot promise to remotely end, inspect, or block a private LAN session already running on user devices.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the publisher’s applicable jurisdiction, without overriding mandatory consumer protections or conflict-of-law rules that apply where you live. Before filing a formal claim, you and the publisher should attempt in good faith to resolve it through the support contact below.

The publisher must replace the centralized governing-law value before publication and obtain jurisdiction-specific legal review. No arbitration, venue, or class-action waiver is imposed by this draft.

14. General terms

  • If one provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to the extent permitted by law.
  • Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
  • You may not assign these Terms without consent; the publisher may transfer them with the app/business subject to law and appropriate notice.
  • These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and Acceptable Use Policy form the agreement for WiFi Stream and replace prior app-use terms on the same subject.
  • The English version controls only where local law permits; legally required translations may prevail.
